Manchester City‘s two-year ban from European competition has been lifted following an appeal to the CAS.
The Citizens were handed the suspension by UEFA’s club financial control body (CFCB) in February for “serious breaches” of club licensing and financial fair play regulations.
City immediately signalled their intention to appeal, and CAS has now cleared them to compete in the Champions League next season and reduced a €30 million fine to €10m.
This highly anticipated result of Manchester City’s appeal against their two-year ban has sparked a big reaction from Man City fans on Twitter.
Get in! Get in! Get in! Get in! Get in! Get in! We’ve done it! Our lord and saviour Khaldoon Al Mubarak💙— Niel K. (@NielK__1894) July 13, 2020
Up the city boiiis. The disrespect we were shown whilst banned. Let’s pay it back. 💙💙💙💙— MahrezSZN (@szn_mahrez) July 13, 2020

While the result is a reason to celebrate for City, Many football fans are saying how disenchanted they feel with UEFA’s failure to properly enforce their Financial Fair Play rules.
Fans have taken to Twitter in their droves to say that today’s outcome shows FFP is no longer a deterrent to clubs living outside of their means.
Happy for city with decision being overturned… ffp now being called in to question… simple solution forget ffp… bring in salary cap for all teams and problem solved… if teams breach those rules which is easier to prove, hit them hard and they won’t just like in US SPORTS— John Barnes (@officialbarnesy) July 13, 2020
So the message is simple for other clubs:
– You don’t have to co-operate with CFCB if you don’t want
– You can spend what you want
– You can over-state sponsorship deals if you want
– Just set €10m aside for when UEFA investigateRIP FFP.

The verdict from CAS really is going down like a lead balloon with many fans accusing Manchester City of bribing UEFA.

Officially done something? 😂😂 all you have done my friend is confirm that your pockets are deep enough to buy anyone. With all the hacked emails and information out there, if an organisation so filthy can get a slap on the wrist.
Then what’s the actual point

No but you did break the rules, you just refused to cooperate until the 5 year period was over, so when you did cooperate they couldn’t charge you for it. That is scummy and you should have been banned. UEFA are spineless.— RD (@Ralph_Drummond) July 13, 2020
“There’s no limit to idiocy Steven. The fact is, we are in the CL baby… Independent body ruling means we are clear of all blame. Let the idiots cry, the time calls for celebrations. C’mon City” , claimed one city fan.
while a Liverpool fan asked, “What’s the 10m for then? If there’s insufficient evidence to charge them, why fine them 10m?.”
Another Rival fan tweet said:”A €10m fine for a breach of Article 56 of FFP seems a bit heavy handed. Wouldn’t be surprised to City challenge that also”.
Thoughts
Most of them think we’ve bribed UEFA, which makes even less sense. Its funny how they can make such statements with a straight face 😏.
It’s hilarious reading it all mate 😂😂. Wouldn’t be shocked to see Liverpool fans claiming city paid the ground keepers at Anfield in 2014 to make the pitch extra wet so Gerrard would slip.
We don’t care what they think. We are city and we are playing champions league football next season.
