Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that the Citizens had approached Lyon for their midfielder star Houssem Aouar.
The 22-year-old has been one of Lyon‘s star performers once again this season, scoring nine goals and creating eight more in a truncated French campaign due to coronavirus.
His form has attracted the attention of a number of top clubs around Europe, including Arsenal, Man City and Juventus.
Aouar has been tracked by the Citizens for 18 months, but had not had any discussions with Lyon about signing him so far this summer.
But According to ESPN, City approached Lyon about midfielder Houssem Aouar days after he shone as Pep Guardiola’s men were stunned 3-1 in the Champions League quarter-final.
The report adds Lyon have told Aouar that they would let him go this summer despite his contract expiring in June 2023.
City face competition from Arsenal, who have already held talks with Lyon’s sporting director Juninho for the French man.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief and Man City Xtra, Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions

Would love it if we sign him. He was quality against us.— City Fan (@ManCity_FanView) August 21, 2020
He’s more mobile than Gundo— 🕴🏿 🎲🎗ᏗᏰᏗᎩᎧᏬᏒᎷᏋ🎗©️ (@yourme4sheezy) August 21, 2020
City face absolutely no competition from Arsenal fact , no money no champions league no chance of winning the premier league for years fact— 👕TonytheManc👕 STAY AT HOME (@tonythemanc) August 21, 2020
Easy to find a team who will match Gundo’s wages and pay a transfer fee? He’s not going to take a paycut as he’s probably on his last big contract of his career, given his age. Why do you think we haven’t been able to get rid of Otamendi yet or Bravo only until now?— David Speers (@DavySpeers) August 21, 2020
Buying him means bad for Foden.— Uddipta (@uddipta_kakati) August 21, 2020
WOULD AOUAR BE A GOOD SIGNING FOR CITY?
The 22-year-old Frenchman possesses all the attributes the Spanish manager is looking for in his well-stacked midfield.
In addition to sophisticated technical abilities and passing skills, Aouar is also comfortable cutting into the channels and scoring from distance.
Although many Man City fans will be calling for a further progression of Phil Foden next season, a more experienced name may be required to fill the gap left by David Silva.
