Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that Manchester City already have an agreement on personal terms with Lionel Messi over a move to the Etihad Stadium.

The superstar dropped a bombshell earlier in the week as he informed Barcelona of his desire to end his long-term association with the club.

Although the Catalan giants do not want to sell the 33-year-old this summer, their hand could be forced due to the forward having less than a year remaining on his contract.

The three clubs mentioned so far keen on Messi’s signature have been City, PSG and Inter Milan, But it’s City who are seen as major favourites by reliable Spanish journalists.

Pep Guardiola and the City hierarchy are eager to pull off what would be one of the biggest transfers in the history of the sport, with the City boss reportedly speaking to Messi this week.

According to Argentine journalist Veronica Brunati, who was one of the first to confirm Messi wanted to leave Barcelona, City have already agreed personal terms.

She tweeted: “#City and #Messi they already have agreement in numbers.” She also added that Messi will soon make a public announcement over his future where he will officially confirm his Barcelona exit.
