Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that Juventus have once again turned down an offer from Manchester City for Leonardo Bonucci.
Pep Guardiola is an admirer of the Italian international and sees him as the perfect man to fill the void left by Kompany. His ability on the ball and his passing range would make him a great fit for a Guardiola side.
City’s need for a centre-half is a priority this summer, and have been heavily linked with a move for many defenders like José Giménez, Upamecano, Milan Skriniar, Diego Carlos, Pedro Porro and Kalidou Koulibaly in recent weeks.
Despite the £41m capture of Ake from Bournemouth already this summer, defenders remain the priority. It’s clear that Guardiola needs to find a quality centre back pairing for Aymeric Laporte.
According to Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, the veteran centre-back was the subject of another approach from Guardiola’s City, however Bonucci turned down the offer to the point that the Premier League club never got as far as making an official bid to Juve.
The report suggest that Bonucci is adamant that the defender does not want to leave and will finish his playing career in Turin.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
I’m never surprised. He always rejects us & Pep.— KDB (@GeniusKDB) August 26, 2020
Just sign Koulibaly
Let Messi stay at Barcelona 🙄— RVénger (@R__venger) August 26, 2020
he’s past it but if it was a small fee i wouldn’t mind having him around. concentrate on koulibaly tho— ellis (@mcfcforest) August 26, 2020
Dont want him, Koulibaly should be our only cb choice— Dazza #FreeMessi (@MessiSZN10) August 26, 2020
FS we just need to hurry up and sign koulibaly it’s getting boring waiting now I almost forgot about the guy it’ll be dead when we do actually get him because of how long it’s been dragged out— CityCaptain (@CityCaptain2) August 26, 2020
Bonucci is a waste of money, bring talented young ones instead— jindow #FreeMessi (@ZeaRd_OG) August 26, 2020
It’s either to let Napoli know we have other options and they lower the price or ist that city will pay some cash for messi and might not have enough for Koulibaly. Hope it isn’t that though— 🇧🇼💙 (@King_KDB_) August 26, 2020
Koulibaly is not going to get signed if we are after Lionel Messi, period. The deal with Messi is to expensive. So smart move from City to go for a cheap experienced defender. Or a talent which doesn’t cost more than 40 million. But we got some deluded spoiled fans.— Jacob, LL.M. (@Achillaes) August 26, 2020
