‘Looks a little like Sergio’ – Fans react as Ex PL star asked Man City to sign La Liga striker

Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a tweet by a former English professional footballer Trevor Lloyd Sinclair asking for Manchester City to sign Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix.

The 20-year-old was linked with City following his sensational performances for Benfica last season before eventually moving to Atletico for a huge £113m fee, making him the third most expensive player in history.

He has, however, struggled to make the same impact for Atletico, scoring only nine goals and laying on three assists across all competitions – a big difference from his previous tally of 20 strikes and 11 assists at his former side.

Perturbed by the versatile forward’s dip in numbers, Trevor Lloyd took to Twitter calling for Txiki Begiristain, City director of football to rescue the Portuguese forward who hasn’t quite hit the heights expected of him in Spain.

In reaction to Trevor’s opinion shared on Twitter by City Chief, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

Could João Félix be the true heir to Sergio Agüero?

At 32, Agüero’s peak is clearly coming to its end and there are concerns at the Etihad that Gabriel Jesus is not of the level required to be the Argentine’s replacement.

As such, City will dip into their considerable pockets and look to sign a forward who can eventually be Agüero’s heir.

Like the Argentine, Joao Felix joined Atletico whilst still a teenager, both are attacking players and have been tipped to go all the way to the top.

With these similarities, the Portuguese reached six goals in 26 games, 12 less than Aguero. He has score nine goals in all competitions this season for Atletico Madrid.

Sergio Aguero scored just six goals in the 2006/07 season, his first campaign with Los Colchoneros.

There is no confirmation as to whether Atleti would be willing to lose their club-record signing so soon after his arrival.
