Premier Leaque star ‘wanted by Manchester City as Sergio Aguero replacement’ – Reports

Pep Guardiola reportedly views Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as the ideal replacement for Sergio Aguero, according to Sportsmole reports.

Agüero’s peak is clearly coming to its end and there are concerns at the Etihad that Gabriel Jesus is not of the level required to be the Argentine’s replacement.

Manchester City‘s season unravelled without Sergio Aguero in recent months underlines their need to add another striker with Tottenham’s Harry Kane the perfect target.

According to The Sun, Guardiola regards Kane as his first-choice target to ultimately take Aguero’s spot, but the Spaniard accepts that ‘it would be impossible’ to sign the England captain this summer.

The Sun claims that City has failed in their efforts to prize Harry Kane away from Tottenham Hotspur and are now focusing on Martinez as the ideal replacement for his compatriot.

Kane had injury problems during the 2019-20 campaign but still managed 24 goals in 34 appearances for Spurs, while he has now struck 188 times in 287 outings for his current club in total.

The 27-year-old has been consistently among the Premier League‘s top scorers since breaking into the Tottenham first team in 2014, winning the Golden Boot on two occasions.

Spurs will be in a strong position when it comes to any potential negotiations as the centre-forward has a contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until the summer of 2024.

The challenge of replacing Sergio Agüero is certainly one of the problem areas of the Man City squad. The City’s record goal scorer will enter the final year of his contract this summer and there hasn’t been any indication that he will pen fresh terms at the Etihad Stadium.
