‘Thanks pep, the league is ours now’ – Fans react as City ‘On the Verge’ Of Signing Centre-Back for €65M

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club is set to complete the signing of Ruben Dias from SL Benfica.

The 23-year-old has long been a reported target of Pep Guardiola and City. With the club heavily linked with several defenders this summer, City has not shown any genuine interest Dias.

With less than two weeks of the transfer window to go, City are still working on recruiting a second senior centre-back following the earlier summer capture of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth.

The Citizens have been trying to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli for much of the transfer window. It’s been a hard fight, with the Serie A club’s president wanting a huge fee and being unrealistic regarding his prospects of getting it.

As a result, City were reportedly targeting Sevilla’s Koundé and Atletico Maldrid’s Jose Giménez as alternatives..

According to the latest claims from Portugal by Ojogo, City are expected to close a deal for Benfica centre-back Ruben Dias for between €60M and €65M.

The report claims the swap deal will involve Nicolas Otamendi from City with discussions held between City and Benfica representatives over the part-exchange transfer and an agreement is close.
