‘That’s very expensive, Rather stick with Stones’ – Fans react as Man City make huge offer for La Liga CB

Must read

Man City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that the Citizens have made an offer worth €70 million for Sevilla centre-back Jules Koundé.

The Frenchman who has been the club’s back-up defensive target, is regarded as one of the best defenders for his age group. He enjoyed a stellar 2019/20 season in La Liga, making 29 appearances as his side comfortably finished in the top four.

The Citizens have been trying to sign Kalidou Koulibaly for much of the transfer window. It’s been a hard fight, with the Serie A club’s president wanting a huge fee and being unrealistic regarding his prospects of getting it.

It has led City to other targets, with Sevilla ace Kounde the new alternatives if Napoli are not prepared to lower their demands of of about €80m (£73.2m) for the center-back.

According to L’Equipe as relayed by Sport Illustrated, City have apparently made an offer worth €70 million for the 21 year old centre-back.

The report adds his former club Bordeaux could receive a surprise injection of funds at the end of this transfer window owing to a 20% sell-on clause inserted in their agreement with Sevilla over Koundé.

The La Liga side had already reportedly rejected an offer of €60 million plus Nicolas Otamendi. Whether an offer of €70 million will be enough remains to be seen.

The young Frenchman Kounde would certainly be viewed as a prospect for the future with his natural defensive talent coupled with blistering pace for a central defender.
