Manchester City fans have been left astounded by the class of Joao Cancelo after the Manchester City star’s assist in the first half again Sweden in the UEFA Nations League on Wednesday evening.

Cancelo, who was signed last summer in a £60 million deal from Juventus , struggled for game time ahead of Kyle Walker during his first season at the Etihad.  The 26-year-old, however, has steadily worked his way into Pep Guardiola’s plans over these last few months – often being utilised as a makeshift left-back ahead of Benjamin Mendy

Coming back from injury, Cancelo was brilliant down the wing as Portugal saw off Sweden by putting three past them in a dominant display in the UEFA Nations League.

The Man City defender played a lovely dinked ball into the box that William Carvalho headed onto the post as early as the fourth minute. Just before half-time, Cancelo then sent in a brilliant whipped ball in behind the defensive line to release Jota for Portugal’s second.

The bending cross from just inside Sweden’s half was reminiscent of a ‘De Bruyne-esque‘ delivery which somehow found the Liverpool attacker from a tricky position.
