Manchester City were forced to settle for a point as Leeds United battled back to draw 1-1 at Elland Road.
Raheem Sterling and Rodrigo Moreno scored the goals, but it was the endless number of unconverted scoring chances that had fans of both sides on the edge of their seats.
Ederson came to their rescue before the break with a fine save, but it was his mistake that gifted Marcelo Bielsa’s a route back into the game.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Guardiola once again pointed to City’s lack of pre-season and injury issues – but clarified that wasn’t an excuse for dropping points today.
“It was good, yeah. Both teams want to attack. Good game. Fair result.
“We made an incredible first 30 mins where we could have scored goals. We knew it’s a team until the final whistle
“But without preseason and a lot of players out, they show incredible desire. We could not win but we move on.”
It’s early — very early — but City are quickly falling into a hole as Liverpool enjoy a perfect start to the season. Having played the same number of games until tomorrow, City could find themselves five points and eight places behind the Reds.

Need a clinical finisher. Even wish we brought back Dzeko

I think we need an arrogant player, someone with confidence in his ability…. We are very low on confidence at the moment…. I think a striker is a bigger need now

The whole team did well. But Mendy? Fucking hell. He is shit. Laporte and Dias were on point. Every time Leeds were threatening, they were from right side. Mendy was letting in easy crosses. As soon as Ake came, Leeds were non existent.

Wasteful in front of goal. The attack had so many situations where they could have scored a goal. I think it will take some time for attack to gel since City haven’t had a pre-season.
I really hope that the international matches don’t take a toll on the players.

Why can’t people take the fact we played a good team at their own ground. Decent first game for dias aswell under the circumstances. Yeah there are problems but there are loads of injuries that aid those issues. It isn’t the end of the world like everyone is making out.
