‘Pursuing the wrong person’ – Man City fans reacts as Guardiola eye £98m-rated star as Aguero’s replacement

Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that claims Lautaro Martinez has reportedly told Inter Milan officials that he wants an increase in his current wages to kill off interest from Manchester City.

The Argentine striker is on Pep Guardiola’s hit list as he seeks a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero, whose contract expires with the Sky Blues at the end of this season.

While many quality strikers have been touted by City, none have been linked as much as Argentine Martinez, who enjoyed a brilliant season in Serie A with a record of a goal every two games last season.

According to the Mirror, Martinez, 23, is looking for an improved contract from Inter and is reportedly demanding somewhere in the neighborhood of £150,000-a-week in wages if he is to sign an extension at San Siro.

Inter are keen to tie Martinez down to a new deal as his current contract contains a £98m buyout clause. Spanish duo Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen, yet will struggle to outbid City in the present climate.

The Argentine forward has scored 36 goals and registered 11 assists in his 96 appearances for the Italian giants. He has scored six goals and provided three assists in 13 appearances so far this season.

In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief and Man City Xtra, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions on this latest update.
