Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that claims Manchester City are ‘preparing to close operation’ for Barcelona star Lionel Messi in January.
Many fans will remember the crazy two-week period towards the end of August as City were reportedly in talks to sign Messi with the Argentine star pushing for a move away from Barcelona.
However, the six-times world player of the year eventually decided to stay in Spain for the coming season, the last on his current deal, as he did not want to face a legal battle with the club he joined as a teenager and with whom he has amassed more than 30 major trophies.
The Premier League giants are still favourites to sign wantaway superstar in sensational deal and reunite him with Pep Guardiola.
According to Deportes Cuatro just hours after the extension of Guardiola’s contract, Messi who ‘no longer hides’ that ‘he is not happy’ at the Camp Nou, is ‘increasingly closer’ to leaving Barcelona.
The report go on to state that City are ‘determined to do everything’ to sign Lionel Messi, and will try from the next transfer window in January.
A separate report by Mirror Football, City are ‘determined’ to sign Lionel Messi and will turn their attention to signing the 33-year-old and believe he can be the final piece in the jigsaw to take them to UEFA Champions League gloy.
