Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that claims the club have ended their pursuit of Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.
Many fans will remember the crazy two-week period towards the end of August as City were reportedly in talks to sign Messi with the Argentine star pushing for a move away from Barcelona.
However, the six-times world player of the year eventually decided to stay in Spain for the coming season, the last on his current deal, as he did not want to face a legal battle with the club he joined as a teenager and with whom he has amassed more than 30 major trophies.
The Premier League giants are still favourites to sign wantaway superstar in case he finally decide to leave Barcelona.
According to Spanish football expert Semra Hunter via Sky Sport, City are no longer keen to sign the six-time Ballon d’Or winner, with his age and €100m-a-year wages (£89m) thought to be a deal breaker for City.
“I have it on good authority from someone close to the situation that Manchester City are not going to bid for Lionel Messi. Based on the information I have, as of today, that door is closed,” Hunter told Sky Sports News.

To be honest. I’d take him or leave him. Obviously, he’ 🐐 but age isn’t on his side. Much prefer someone like Haaland that can take us forward in the long run
