‘We got the best’ – Fans reacts as Man City ‘were willing to put more than €50m on the table’ to sign Italian defender

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that claims the club was interested in Inter Milan central defender Alessandro Bastoni. 
City were reportedly linked with a move for the Italian defender this summer before ending up signing Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake, as Pep Guardiola was in search for a new defender.
Pep Guardiola was interest in the Italian U21 international’s ability to play the ball out of defence being a particular trait that he admires in defenders.
According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, City were willing to pay more than €50 million to sign Bastoni during the Summer but Inter closed the door to any negotiations.

Bastoni is currently under contract with Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season. This season the 21-year-old has made seven appearances across all competitions to date.
