Some Manchester City fans believe a short-term move for Spanish forward Diego Costa could be a wise decision when the transfer window re-opens in January.

The former Spain and Chelsea striker’s contract was terminated by Atletico Madrid on Tuesday due to personal reasons, six months before it was scheduled.

“Atletico de Madrid and Diego Costa have reached an agreement for the termination of the striker’s contract, which was to end on June 30, 2021,” the club said in a statement.

Following this news and Considering Manchester City’s crisis upfront, many City supporters have taken to Twitter – debating on if the club should the £10m rated striker.

Costa arrived at Atletico in 2006 at the age of 17, going on to play 215 matches over two spells (2010-14 and then 2018-20) either side of three seasons at Chelsea, scoring 83 goals and providing 36 assists.

The 32-year-old Brazilian-born forward, who has been capped 24 times by Spain has scored 19 goals in 81 appearances in all competitions for Atletico after moving back to the club from Chelsea.

Although Guardiola doesn’t tend to do transfer business in January, many supporters have called for the club to sign the 32-year-old on a six month contract in a bid to address the Citizen’s lack of potency up front.
