Sergio Aguero could return to the Manchester City bench for Wednesday’s Champions League game against Marseille ahead of the Manchester derby.
Aguero has missed City’s last three matches due to discomfort in his knee and has been limited to four appearances this season.
However, after a positive few days in training, Pep Guardiola says the Argentine will be assessed on Wednesday to check that he still feels in an improved condition and could make the bench against Marseille.
‘We are going to decide, maybe he will be on the bench,’ Pep Guardiola said.
‘We’ll see his reaction tomorrow in his body, not just the knee.
‘He has been part of the training the last two or three days, the reaction and the niggles from the recent past have disappeared.
‘He needs a bit more time but we are patient. We’d love to have him ready. If his knee responds well, he will be back (to his best) for sure. Nobody has doubts about that.’
With City set for a huge clash against Manchester United this coming weekend, fans would no doubt love to welcome the Argentine back as soon as possible.
According to Journalist Lucas Scagliol, Guardiola’s idea is to give Aguero a ‘few minutes’ in the game vs Marseille, in order to have him fully-fit for the Manchester derby.

No chance. Always takes Kun 3 or 4 games before he is back upto match speed

Aguero is 32. Will play 30 minutes against West Brom maybe, no significant minutes before that.
