Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club is interested in making a January move for a new left-back.
Left-back problem has persisted throughout Pep Guardiola’s time at the club. In searching for the best solution to this problem position he has used Alexander Kolarov, Gaël Clichy, Fernandinho, Benjamin Mendy, Danilo, Fabian Delph, Aymeric Laporte, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Angelino, Nathan Ake and João Cancelo.
All the options use at the left-back have failed to establish their place in the side, lacking the reliability and consistency needed to play in a system that relies heavily on full-backs.
The recent form of Joao Cancelo may have provided yet another short-term solution, as the club’s natural left-back Benjamin Mendy is usually always plagued by injury or poor form.
With The 2021 January transfer window set to open on Saturday January 2, a new left-back could yet arrive at the Etihad Stadium despite Pep Guardiola claiming the Club Is not going to make any signing.
According to Sam Lee of the Athletic, City would be willing to sign a left-back in the upcoming January transfer window, if they could make such a deal happen.
However, the report states that just like last January, and the last few days of the summer transfer window, a move for a competent left-back may prove too difficult for the club.

I don’t honestly think we need a left back. We have an amazing defense already and we’ve already splurged a lot. We should try to get Haaland instead.
