Manchester City fans have taken to Twitter to react after a stunning stats of Spanish defensive midfielder Rodrigo Hernández emerged.
The Rodri, who is valued at £57.6 million by Transfermarkt made a big-money move to the Etihad Stadium in 2019 but had not become an integral to the Blues cause as many expected he would be.
The Spaniards’ debut season in that crucial holding midfield role had been difficult but the former Atletico Maldrid man has been a mainstay for City in midfield this season, often one of the first names on the team sheet.
According to Opta Joe, the classy Spanish midfielder completed the most passes [2,291] of any player in the Premier League in 2020, while his pass completion rate of 92.4% was also the highest of any midfielder.
In reaction to the stats shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, many City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions, with many supporters having a mixed opinions on the Spaniard.
There is a reason he’s peps first name on team sheet.

Its really under rated, played some great passes into Foden (dropping into the #10 space) in the Southampton game, completely cut through their entire midfield

But not many key passes or assists. That’s the difference between him and Fernandinho or Gundogan

My stats would be as good as that if I passed sideways and backwards all the time

I’d love to see a breakdown of how these passes actually effected the respective passages of play. 🙄 Wouldn’t say he’s a bad player, but he doesn’t grab a game by the scruff of the neck and influence the final result; 35 year old Fernandinho makes more of an impact. 🤦♂️

Rodri hate is unnecessary

All the people saying backward passes and sideways passes, please shut up man 😭🙏🏻
It infuriates me when I see city fans shit talking their own
He’s one of the most forward passing midfielders in the PL for 2 seasons now. In fact progressive passing only Bruno & KDB better
