Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims John Stones could be set for an England recall after his return to form this season.
Stones has not played for England since November 2019 and has fallen down the pecking order in Gareth Southgate’s plans.
The 26 year old defender has had limited opportunities under Pep Guardiola over the past few seasons having fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad, but recently has impressed after been handed an opportunity by the City boss in the starting XI
Stones’s surprising comeback to City’s starting lineup has taken everyone by shock. His impressive performances for all four of his games have managed to displace Aymeric Laporte from City’s defense.
City currently boast the best defensive record in the Premier League, having only shipped 13 goals in their opening 15 fixtures, credit to the partnership of John Stones and Ruben Dias.
According to the Daily Mail, John Stones has propelled himself back into Euro 2020 reckoning following his impressive return to form.
The report adds that Southgate, who is a huge admirer of Stones’ character, believes he is perfectly suited for the tournament and is ‘closely monitoring’ his performances ahead of a potential recall.
