Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports of the club’s interest in Everton star Lucas Digne and Atletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi.

The full-back spot in particular remains an issue and with Benjamin Mendy failing to push his game on, a new left back is high on the priority list.

The Telegraph had reported that Pep Guardiola would like to add a left-back to his squad before the end of the January transfer window, and is a huge admirers of Everton star Lucas Digne.

The January transfer window is now open but it is pretty unlikely the Citizens will spend money in January.

According to Eurosport, City are increasingly hot on Lucas Digne but the Goodison Park outfit are preparing a new contract offer for the France international.

City may have to look elsewhere for a left-back as landing Digne could prove herculean for the Citizens as Everton aren’t keen to let one of their best players leave anytime soon.

As per the report, Atletico Madrid’s Renan Lodi is also being linked with a move to the Etihad.

However, the reports reiterate that it will be very difficult to get the player in January since Atletico are in a very strong position in La Liga and will want to hold on to the player till the end of the season.

Is Digne The Right Choice For The Citizens?

A left-back of Digne’s skillset will be a brilliant addition to Citys squad if Pep Guardiola can find a way to convince the former Lille defender to seal a move to the Etihad Stadium this January.

The 27-year-old, who cost £18 million is a deadly asset from set-pieces, while his overlaps and deliveries into the box are consistently brilliant. He has amassed four assists in eight Premier League games this season.

The €33m-rated star, who has played for European giants such as PSG and Barcelona will be a significant upgrade over Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko due to his consistency at both ends of the field.
