Manchester City fans were impressed with Oleksandr Zinchenko’s performance in the 4-1 victory over Liverpool on Sunday evening.
A dreary first half was made up for by a brilliant second half at Anfield. Ilkay Gundogan put City in front just after the break before Mo Salah equalised from the penalty spot.
But two monumental errors from Alisson gifted City two goals in just three minutes. Phil Foden then made it four via a superb strike inside the area.
The Victory extended City’s winning run to 14 matches and left Liverpool 10 points beind having played one match more and even in this season of surprises a comeback from that position seems unlikely.
One man who was in superb form at Anfield was left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The Ukrainian has proved to be a valuable player for Pep Guardiola in City’s recent fine run of form, and he was praised publicly by the Spaniard last week.
“He knows how to play football,” said Guardiola.
“He’s playing at a good level, his consistency especially and he is always tactically smart and defensively, he is so, so smart he doesn’t make mistakes. He knows what he has to do to help the central defenders.
“He made an incredible step forward the past weeks, playing Stamford Bridge, against United at Old Trafford and he is playing at a high level. Really good.”
At Anfield, The Ukrainian player did a superb job up against Mohamed Salah and deserved the praise he received afterwards on Twitter.

I just can’t get over how underrated Zinchenko has been this season. His first thought is always to move the ball forward ahead of space, even under the press. It makes a huge difference to the passage of play.

Manchester City have won 84% of the Premier League games Zinchenko has played in since 2017. 42 wins out of 50. That is staggering.
