Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits Manchester City’s tactics at Anfield have sometimes surprised him.
City boss Pep Guardiola has a poor record at Anfield drawing one and losing three of his four league away matches against Klopp’s side, which is the most without winning in any opponent’s stadium.
Guardiola has rarely shifted away from his favoured 4-3-3 system amid his side’s remarkable winning run, but the Spaniard is supposedly considering a different approach against Liverpool.
According to The Mirror, the City boss, who has often change his approach when they have come to Anfield, is considering a switch to a 3-5-2 formation with more emphasis on attack.
When asked about City’s tentative approach on Mersey soil ahead of a meeting between the sides on Sunday, Klopp made a reference to City’s often tentative approach when they have come to Anfield in the past
“We had a game against them at Anfield when I don’t think their full-back Kyle Walker passed the halfway line,” the Liverpool boss said as quoted by The Mirror.
The Cityzens last won at Anfield in 2003, and since then they have lost 13 of 19 games there in all competitions.
Sunday will be a great chance for City to end that poor run, but avoiding another defeat at Anfield would be a huge step towards reclaiming the title.
Liverpool have also lost back-to-back home league matches, having previously gone 68 without defeat, and no goals in the last three at Anfield is their worst run since October 1984.
WHAT DID MAN CITY FANS HAVE TO SAY IN REACTION TO KLOPP’S COMMENTS?
He wants Pep to open up the back for Mane. 😂😂

He is trying to get Pep to play the high line so he can win easily. I never seen City parking the bus against Liverpool, that’s why they lose at Anfield.

He did the same to Mourinho for Tottenham and he won the match. I hope Pep is on guard

Cancello must be a nightmare to play against. If we can play to our strengths and Foden can produce some magic then it has the potential to be a memorable game…for all the right reasons.

He is so desperate
