Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that claims Southampton striker Danny Ings has emerged as a potential transfer target, with Pep Guardiola’s men looking to strengthen their attacking options.

The Citizens are expected to be in the market for a new striker at the end of the 2020-21 campaign, with the club’s all-time leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero potentially leaving on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old, whose contract at St Mary’s expires in the summer of 2022, has been heavily linked with various clubs in recent months, with Tottenham reported to be among the interested parties.

According to The Athletic, as well as Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku, Manchester City are also considering a move for Ings should City decide not to renew their ten year association with Aguero.

The report adds that Manchester City’s recruitment operation is ‘sufficiently advanced’ to prepare for the idea of acquiring two new forwards this summer – if that materialises, Southampton striker Danny Ings is one of those options.

The England international, who might be a more realistic target has 18 months to run on his current deal at Southampton.

Ings has scored seven goals in the Premier League so far this season for Saints. He has netted 40 goals in 86 games since joining the club in 2018.
