Manchester City fans were impressed with Oleksandr Zinchenko’s performance in the 3-0 victory over Tottenham on saturday evening.
Manchester City powered seven points clear at the top of the Premier League as Ilkay Gundogan’s double inspired a 3-0 win that piled pressure on Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, while Liverpool’s problems mounted after a dismal 3-1 defeat at Leicester on Saturday.
One man who was in superb form at the Etihad was left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The Ukrainian has proved to be a valuable player for Pep Guardiola in City’s recent fine run of form, and he was praised publicly by the Spaniard last week.
The 24-year-old left-back Saw plenty of the ball, registering more touches than any other player on the pitch. Popped up in midfield on occasion and played an important role in City’s build-up play. Diligent defensively too, making more tackles (seven) and clearances (four) than anyone else.
Lively contribution to City’s attacking play and let fly with a couple of long-range shots, kept his discipline at the back.
Zinchenko showed real intent from full-back with overlapping runs, plus he was defensively astute to help break up play and deserved the praise he received afterwards on Twitter.
Here are some Man City fans discussing Zinchenko:
zinchenko is an unsung hero, used to hate him so much but he’s turned it around icl

Wow cant believe how much Zinchenko has improved hes gone from a player who wasn’t at Citys level but now he’s such a key player really impressed with his attitude and graft. 👏

We need to give Zinchenko more credit for what he offers to this team. Even when we tried to move him on he stuck by us and now he’s one of our most important players when in possession.
