Manchester City defender Eric Garcia spoke to reporters about his future after playing in Spain’s 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over Georgia on Sunday.
The 20-year-old’s deal at the Etihad Stadium is due to expire at the end of June, though, and he is widely expected to leave Pep Guardiola’s side on a free transfer after he turned down a contract extension from the Premier League club late last season.
Garcia, who has been heavily linked with a Camp Nou return, spoke to reporters after the match about his future and claimed he is only focused on the here and now, and will wait to see what the future brings.
“I‘m focused on what concerns me, now with the national team there is a very important match against Kosovo coming up, and then what comes will come. I don’t know if it will be Barça,’ he said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“The team deserved it, against Greece we found a penalty that leveled the game for us and today we competed to the fullest. We deserve it for a spectacular attitude.
The 20-year-old, who left Barca for City back in 2017 after nine years in the La Masia academy, has struggled to play first-team football consistently this season, with Ruben Dias, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte ahead of him in the pecking order.
Garcia has made just only four Premier League appearances this season, including the final 15 minutes of his team’s 3-0 win over Fulham last time out League.
