Pep Guardiola has hailed former Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho’s form as the Leicester City striker bids to continue his scoring streak against his former club.
The Nigeria international who left City in 2017 as they couldn’t accommodate him as well as Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in the team, has scored seven goals in his last four games for Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes.
His brilliant form in March won him the Premier League’s EA Sports Player of the Month beating the likes of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, City’s Riyad Mahrez and Manchester United’s Luke Shaw to the accolade.
Guardiola is glad to see Iheanacho performing so well ahead of the two sides’ meeting on Saturday.
“Incredible,” Guardiola said when asked about Iheanacho’s form.
” The quality was there. He was a young player here and I think with Gabriel (Jesus) we didn’t have enough space. He is a fantastic person, we had a good relationship, and I’m glad to see him playing well.”
“He’s playing for the injured Maddison and he links really well with the midfield and he’s good in behind. He’s fast and in the final third he has the right tempo, he is so clear in front of the goal.”
Leicester City are currently third in the Premier League table and look on track to finish in one of the Champions League places.
They’re also in the last four of the FA Cup and will face Southampton in their semi-final at the King Power Stadium later this month.
In reaction to Pep Guardiola’s praises for Iheanacho’s form, many Man City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.
