Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relayed a report that claims Real Madrid are among a cluster of European clubs keeping tabs on Riyad Mahrez.
The former Leicester City man is under contract at the Etihad until 2023, and is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal, with a report last week suggesting European clubs have “been alerted” to the potential availability of the Algerian this summer.
According to The Telegraph, Several prominent clubs in Europe, including La Liga giants Real Madrid, are keeping tabs on the Manchester City winger.
While Guardiola is supposedly keen to keep him on the books, Prising Mahrez away from City will be difficult, especially as the 30-year-old star has worked his way into a starting role in big games for Manchester City.
The €42m-rated winger helped the Citizens win an unprecedented domestic treble in his first year at Etihad Stadium, and although they failed to reach the same high standards last season, he has stood out with his individual performances this season.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, many Man City fans as usual have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.
I’d only sell him cause of his age and so we can get Grealish

I Wouldn’t want to sell, but if he wants to leave I wouldn’t mind cashing in and getting Grealish🤷🏾♂️

Mahrez is clear of grealish

Only reason I would sell him is his age, other than that he’s imo our best winger and a worldclass player

Wouldn’t even take 75m for him, A good bit of the time he’s the one who makes our team click

Hope we keep him, some neeks push an agenda against him only because of his fans when in reality hes a class player and we need him.

Mahrez has no replacements and we know it, sell sterling and get Felix but if he wants to leave ten we’ll do a swap with Joao Felix plus cash, but then Mahrez has no replacement
