Some Manchester City fans have been hailing Riyad Mahrez following his performance against Borussia Dortmund, with a fan branding him to have the ‘Best first touch in the world’.
Goals from De Bruyne and Phil Foden secured for Manchester City a 2-1 win over the German club in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
While the likes Foden and De Bruyne may have stole the limelight in this game, Tuesday’s clash was yet another example of why Mahrez is one Man City’s most important player.
The Algerian did enough to justify his inclusion ahead of Sterling, calmly picking out De Bruyne for the goal and working well with Walker on the right.
He hold up play in attack even though that’s not what he’s known for and good on the ball during the first half and active in dangerous spaces.
The former Leicester City man always looked threatening for an assist when on the ball and it’s unsurprising he’s one of Guardiola’s go-to players season.
Riyad Mahrez ‘underated performance’ caught the eye of some Man City fans on social media. Here’s what some of them had to say on Twitter…
