Phil Foden fired Manchester City into a Champions League semi-final date with Paris Saint-Germain and wasted little time in signaling his relish at the showdown with French phenomenon Kylian Mbappe.
Foden scored the crucial winner in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium after Marco Reus struck the leveller for the visitors.
And tonight at Signal Iduna Park, Foden ensured City made the last four when he fired home a thunderbolt in off the post.
Foden then caused a stir after the match on social media after sending a tweet to Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
“[Mbappe] are you ready,” Foden tweeted after full-time in Germany, tagging his prolific 22-year-old rival and adding a handshake emoji.
However, according to Sam Lee of the Athletic, Phil Foden did not post the tweet himself, and it was instead carried out by the company that manages his social media account.
Lee claimed that people close to Foden were left ‘not particularly happy’ about the post and it has been deleted.
On Tuesday, Mbappe and PSG had booked their spot in the semi-finals despite going down to a 1-0 defeat at home to defending champions Bayern Munich, with the French giants’ 3-2 win last week in Germany enough to see them advance on away goals.
Let’s check out some of the reaction to this Foden’s tweets from Man City fans…
Yeah, and rightly so. Looked like a Billy Big Bollocks…and that’s not @PhilFoden
