Manchester City fans have been hailing Bernardo Silva following his performance against Aston Villa, branding his an ‘absolute monster when Kevin De Bruyne isn’t on the pitch’.

City came from behind to claim a 2-1 win over Aston Villa in a game in which both John Stones and Matty Cash were sent off, to moved 11 points clear at the top of the table above rivals Manchester United.

Aston Villa opened the scoring within just 21 seconds from the kick-off, thanks to a quick free-kick from Tyrone Mings and finished off by John McGinn.

Man City fought back through Phil Foden’s finish to a nice move (22) before Rodri glanced a header home after Emiliano Martinez missed his punch (40).

In a three-man midfield, with the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan partners Bernardo Silva.

This was another wonderful performance from 26-year-old Portuguese left-footer, with Phenomenal work rate until the very end as always and has assisted in three consecutive games now.

The amount of space that Aston Villa left for Bernardo to exploit was incredible. The Portuguese midfielder made the most of it and registered two beautiful assists.

He made a lovely overlapping run before laying the ball on a plate for Foden to equalise and then grabbed another assist by providing a lofted cross from the right channel to set up Rodri’s header.

In reaction, some fans of the club took to twitter voice their opinions on Bernardo Silva’s performance, with some fans suggesting he plays better when injured talisman Kevin De Bruyne isn’t on the pitch.
