Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has been listed on Chelsea’s official online store among the options for player name personalisation – and City fans have reacted on Twitter to the mishap.
The 26-year-old was signed from AS Monaco in 2017 to be City’s first-choice left-back, but unfortunately for him, things have been completely downhill despite an electric start to life under Pep Guardiola.
A number of injury problems have prevented him from ever establishing himself as a regular under Guardiola. The Frenchman is struggling for game time this season over the impressive Joao Cancelo and rejuvenated Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The 26-year-old, who will see his deal at the Etihad expire in 2023, is now reportedly open to leave with the club ready to sell in the upcoming summer transfer window.
In a strange turn of events, Mendy’s name has appeared on the list of personalisation options for Chelsea supporters wanting a player’s name on the back of their shirts on their online shop.
Clearly, this is far from confirmation of any transfer, but the presence of Mendy’s name have got a lot of Man City fans talking on social media.
Here’s how a few fans reacted on Twitter:
First he was due to start in goals for them and now this.
