Plenty of Manchester City fans are unhappy with Pep Guardiola after he suggested that Raheem Sterling has been exceptional for the club in the past couple of matches.
The 26-year-old has also struggled in the Premier League of late, starting just two of the Sky Blues’ last six. Sterling is no longer considered to be as integral a player as he once was by Guardiola.
Sterling has been criticize by some fans recently after a disappointing campaign by his standards, but Guardiola has suggested that the City winger has been fantastic recently and deserved to start the game last week.
“He deserved to play in Paris but it’s unfair if I leave Phil or Riyad out now. It’s difficult. I’m justifying my decisions and I don’t want to. Raheem played exceptional in the last two games and he has to be ready because we have a final,’ Guardiola said.
“Maybe he’s going to play many minutes from the beginning. Maybe if we get to the final of the Champions League… everyone can play. That’s the reason why over many years the commitment is there to be in a position to win all these titles.”
Guardiola’s comments have got some Man City fans talking, who took to the social media to express yours thoughts and opinions.
We would have lost the game if he played. He is currently on fraud watch.— Tommy 🤫 (@mcfcbalz) May 2, 2021
I might have to restart the Guardiola slander in case we bottle it tomorrow— Bajirao Bernardo 🚩 (@asiancityfan) May 3, 2021
Maybe he watched a different game— shegun💡💡 (@Anonymo19810110) May 2, 2021
Someone who can't even give an accurate pass

Atleast Pep's in his senses this season. Selecting the proper lineups most of the times.— Adi (@aditya_todmal) May 2, 2021
Praying Pep doesn't start Raheem in CL…— Mancini (@ManCioooooooooo) May 2, 2021
I swear Pep starts Sterling in the final due to pressure of him being unhappy, I am taking my car out to drive him off to york city.— Don Ruben (@RDragron7) May 2, 2021
Let him play against PSG and you ll see how Mbappé enjoys the counter attacks when Sterling loses the balls.— Bryan ➐ (@ManCityBrooklyn) May 2, 2021
The only thing to restore his confidence is more game time look at Werner. He's getting better and also Sterling looks like he's getting better. He's attempting more shots now— Sammy (@Beamerboy7_) May 2, 2021
Sterling and Jesus missed so many chances, especially last season; which essentially cost us the league. They missed more than 40 big chances just in the PL. KDB would’ve had 30+ assists easy.— 🔊🇧🇼 (@NoisyKompany) May 2, 2021
Bottom line, I’d rather have Foden and Bernardo over them. Any day. Twice on a Sunday.
If we get to the final and he starts over Phil or Mahrez then that’s just completely unfair on them two— AJ (@MCFCAJ10) May 2, 2021
