Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays report to yet another update on the club’s interest in Sporting Lisbon starlet Nuno Mendes.
The 18-year-old Sporting Lisbon’s wonderkid is enjoying an excellent season with the Portuguese giants, with City reportedly considering a move for the left-back ahead of the summer transfer window.
His displays for Sporting have reportedly pleased Pep Guardiola and Citizens sporting director Txiki Begiristain, who have already made initial contact with the player’s agent, Miguel Pinho.
According to A Bola early today via Sport Witness, City are ‘preparing to make a proposal’ for the Sporting left-back wonderkid, and ‘Conversations’ between the two sides have already started, with the premier leaque champions ‘ready to move forward’ to sign the 18-year-old after the season ends.
A separate report shortly after by Gonçalo Lopes for Daily Mail claims Manchester City are preparing a five-year contract for Mendes worth €2.5M per year, and are planning a total package of €60M for Nuno Mendes: A £44.3M initial fee + Pedro Porro.
Lopes adds that Sporting have not given Manchester City any concrete figure for Mendes, but insisted they intend to break their transfer record. President Frederico Varandas is willing to play hardball and will only let him go if they pay his €70M release clause.
Manchester City are yet to make a formal offer for Mendes but it is thought they will make one in the coming weeks.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, Many man City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.

How’s getting Nuno gonna effect us getting a striker ?
— Stockport Iniesta (@MCWO2K) May 14, 2021
Probably undervaluing Porro but we're so stacked at RB and so needed of a LB that City are willing to afford that loss on his value. Plus helps us being in good terms with one of the best academies itw

I’m confident that we wouldn’t do this if it meant we couldn’t afford a striker

60m is a lot for an 18 year old. Buy a cheap backup to Zinchenko, we have Cancelo as well.

Swear every club just sky rocket a players value as soon as we’re the ones interested
