Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club haven’t ‘let go’ the potential signing of Sporting Lisbon starlet Nuno Mendes.
Mendes, who has been with Sporting from the age of 10, only made his senior first-team debut under a year ago and has already attracted scouts from elite clubs across the continent.
The 18-year-old enjoyed a stellar breakthrough campaign in the Primeira Liga last year, chipping in with one goal and one assist as Sporting lifted the top-flight title.
Mendes’s form saw him rewarded with a place in Portugal’s squad for Euro 2020, and his performances have supposedly caught the eye of Pep Guardiola.
The premier league champions are looking for a new left-back with the club open to selling Benjamin Mendy, who has not lived up to his £52million price-tag since arriving at City three years ago.
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, as transcribed by Sport Witness, the premier league champions are not prepared to give up in their pursuit of Sporting left-back Nuno Mendes and are continuing to show an interest in signing him this summer.
The report claims that there’s now a growing realisation at Sporting that they probably won’t get the €50M+ they’re looking for this summer, and a transfer is likely to happen at a future transfer window.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
