Manchester City selling Raheem Sterling to Arsenal this summer would be an “absolute disaster”, warns former Premier League striker Marcus Bent.

According to the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old forward has been put up for sale and Arsenal are one club currently interested.

While Manchester City were able to win the Premier League and Carabao Cup, individually, it was not the best season for Sterling.

The England international was not as prolific as he has been in previous campaigns, while he was often overlooked by Pep Guardiola when it came to the knockout stage of the Champions League – though he did start in the final.

Nevertheless, Bent has warned the Citizens about letting him go on the back of one season where his form dipped a bit.

“He’s been brilliant for Manchester City,” the ex-Everton striker exclusively told  TIF“Alright, he’s not played as much this season, but Sterling, within the club, within the team, I think he’s someone that the youngsters can really look up to.

“I think he’s a player that works hard, I think he’s matured and to sell him, move him on, would be a disaster for me. It’d be an absolute disaster.”

Given how important Sterling has been to this Manchester City team, helping them to three Premier League titles, it really is a shock to hear the club could look to sell him.

And when you look at his goal record, as Bent has suggested, this really could end up turning into a disaster for the Champions League finalists.
