Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Fernandinho has agreed a new one-year contract at the Etihad.
The Brazilian’s leadership played a pivotal role in reigniting City’s season as they went onto lift another Premier League title and the veteran is viewed as an invaluable member of Pep Guardiola’s squad.
The midfielder, who turned 36 last month, had seen his games reduced but fought his way back into side as they progressed in the Champions League.
With his current deal set to expire at the end of the month, the Brazilian’s future was very much in doubt as there were no signs of an intention from City to renew the player’s contract for a second year running.
According to Jack Gaughan of the Mail, Fernandinho and Manchester City have reached an agreement over a one-year contract extension for the Brazilian midfielder.
Gaughan states that the Brazilian is viewed as an ‘invaluable member’ of Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad at Manchester City – which emphasises the club’s insistence on retaining his services beyond the summer.
The expectation is that official confirmation of the contract extension will arrive before Manchester City begin their pre-season training ahead of the new campaign, with Guardiola’s side set to meet Barcelona in one fixture.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra and City Chief, many Man City fans have have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.
