Germany Under-21s striker Lukas Nmecha has joined Wolfsburg from Manchester City, the Premier League champions have confirmed.

The 22-year-old appeared in 41 games on loan for former teammate Vincent Kompany’s club in Anderlecht and contributed to the team’s success with 21 goals and three assists, making him one of the best strikers in the Belgian First Division A.

That form has not gone unnoticed with recently a trio of Bundesliga clubs all reportedly interested in the Germany youth international striker.

The 22-year-old City youth product has secured the permanent move to Wolfsburg on a four-year deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, aware of Nmecha’s talent, City have inserted a buy-back clause in the frontman’s deal which will give them first right of refusal, and they also have a 15% sell-on fee if they don’t take up the option to re-sign

Nmecha, who represented England at youth level before switching his allegiance to Germany in 2019, made just two first-team appearances for City.

Hamburg-born youngster has been with the Citizens since the age of nine when he was scouted while playing for his school team, making the move over from Germany soon after.
