Manchester City are optimistic about England star Phil Foden‘s chances of being passed fit for their Premier League opener on Sunday, 15 August.
The 21-year-old academy graduate was part of the Three Lions squad that reached the Euro 2020 final this summer. However, Foden was ruled out of England’s penalty shootout defeat to Italy through injury.about:blank
The City attacker required crutches and a protective boot following scans, jeopardising his chances of starting the new campaign.
That may not be the case, according to a report from ESPN. Their sources suggest that Foden could recover in time for their opening game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur.
Foden along with England teammates Kyle Walker, John Stones and Raheem Sterling, the academy graduate was granted additional leave after this summer’s tournament.
The quartet are due to return to City in August – ahead of the curtain raiser.
The premier league champions are also due to compete in the Community Shield, taking on FA Cup winners Leicester City eight days before the Premier League curtain raiser.
In reaction to the news shared on Twitter by City Xtra, Man City fans as usual have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.
