Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola has made a personal phone call to Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann over a possible summer transfer.
The Premier League champions are in the market for a forward and Harry Kane has been their top target in the ongoing transfer window.
The Premier League champions are thought to be have made a £100m offer for the England captain but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reluctant to part ways with Kane this summer and has slapped a staggering £150m price tag on the marksman’s head to fend off potential suitors.
Should the pursuit of Kane fail, Pep Guardiola’s side must definitely have a shortlist of alternatives, and is now exploring other forward options and it has been claimed that Griezmann has emerged as an option.
And according to French outlet Foot Mercato, Guardiola has been in contact with the Frenchman to explore the possibility of taking him to the Etihad, having spoken to him on the phone.
The report claimed that the two man have ‘enjoyed each other’ for a long time, and that Antoine Griezmann could become a solution for City. It is reiterated that the priority for Etihad officials remains Tottenham’s Harry Kane, but the asking price has ‘cooled them off’.
The Manchester City manager has a long-standing admiration for the 30-year-old and is interested in signing him.
Barcelona hope a ‘serious offer’ will arrive for Griezmann this summer and are open to offers for the forward as they are in deep financial malaise and need to sell players to raise funds and reduce their wage bill.
Griezmann earns £594,000-per-week at the Camp Nou, after joining from Atletico Madrid in a £107m deal back in 2019. His Barcelona contract also contains a £717m release clause, but he will leave for far less should he be sold.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra and City Chief, many Man City fans have been sharing their thoughts and opinions.

People need to stop acting like he’s crap. He’s a 15+ goalscorer per season and wouldn’t be a bad option if we can’t get Kane.

Yes. He would do a decent job short term.
