Adrian Bernabe has confirmed he will leave Manchester City this summer following the expiration of his contract – which have got some fans talking.
Bernabe joined City in the summer of 2018 on a free transfer after coming through the ranks at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy.
The three-time Spain Under-17 international has since starred for Manchester City’s Under-23 side. Naturally a midfielder, Bernabe has been used just as much at left-back or on the left flank – playing 54 times for the 23’s.
The midfielder has now been released by Pep Guardiola’s side, who confirmed his departure on social media on Thursday.
“It’s time to put an end to one of the most beautiful stages in which I have lived,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Manchester has been my home for the past three years and I will always be grateful for everything you have given me as a person and as a footballer.
“I would like to thank everyone who helped me along the way. Especially my teammates from whom I learned a lot and all the staff who helped and guided me in the best possible way.
“Thank you all. I will be a citizen forever. “
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the fans, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the speculation.

It’s the problem with signing young players from la masia, they always eventually want to go back
