Manchester City are ‘really confident’ of getting a deal for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish over the line this summer, according to the latest reports.
The Premier League champions have been chasing the Aston Villa skipper for the majority of the summer, alongside Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane.
Recent reports have stated that the premier league club value their talisman at £100 million, however, some around the club believe that a bid in the range of £90 million could be accepted.
Aston Villa continue to stand firm on a £100 million valuation of their prized asset, and there is also an understanding in various quarters that they would be willing to discuss fresh contract talks with the player in order to keep him away from the grasps of the Premier League champions.
Daily Mail early this week reported that the premier league champions remain in talks with Aston Villa to persuade them to lower their asking price of £100m for the England midfielder.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has delivered a fresh update on Manchester City’s pursuit of Aston Villa star Jack Grealish.
“The latest on this one I’m hearing is Manchester City are really confident of getting this deal over the line, it probably will be a new Premier League transfer record as well, probably close to £100 million for Grealish,” Pete said on The Football Terrace’s The Done Deal Show.
“The signals that Man City are getting are that they think this deal can get done and will get over the line, that Jack Grealish will be a Manchester City player for the start of the new season.”
“I think when someone like Pep Guardiola makes a concerted effort to bring you to the club, that’s going to be pretty hard to turn down,” He continues.
“Guardiola has previously spoken very highly of Grealish whenever he’s come up against the young man at Aston Villa. He’s been a big fan of him, he sees him as being the next addition to this Manchester City team as he wants to evolve the team and develop it.”
“Villa, to be fair to them, are trying hard to keep him. They are offering him a deal of around £200,000-a-week to sign a new contract and stay at the club, and ignore these advances from Manchester City,” Pete O’Rourke further explains.
