‘Welcome’, ‘See you soon’ – Man City fans hijack Jack Grealish’s first tweet since Euro 2020

Manchester City fans have made their feelings clear to transfer target Jack Grealish, as reports suggest the club have opened talks with Aston Villa over his transfer.

City are desperate to add Grealish to their talented array of attackers but will have to match Villa’s lofty asking price to lure him to the Etihad Stadium.

Aston Villa continue to stand firm on a £100 million valuation of their prized asset, and there is also an understanding in various quarters that they would be willing to discuss fresh contract talks with the player in order to keep him away from the grasps of the Premier League champions.

The 25-year-old has long been a target for Manchester City and Fabrizio Romano of the Guardian has confirmed that talks between the two clubs over a potential deal has begun.

Jack Grealish had stayed mostly quiet on social media after Euro 2020 amid transfer speculation linking him with Manchester City.

On Thursday, England tweeted a video of Grealish’s highlights from his time at their Euro 2020 camp, and the player responded by saying: “Best summer ever.”

Many City fans used the opportunity to try and convince Grealish to sign for City, with the replies to his tweet flooded with supporters urging him to move this summer.

Here’s what some fans had to say on Twitter…

Jack Grealish trending on Twitter is never good news for Aston Villa fans and this latest incident must have many fearing the worst.

City are an attractive proposition after winning three Premier League titles in the last four seasons while reaching the Champions League final in May, but Villa have Grealish tied down until 2025 and are willing to offer him £250k-per-week to stay beyond the summer.

If City match the England international’s valuation, they shouldn’t have any other obstacles in their way as they can offer Grealish far more money than Villa.
