Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club is in talks with Ruben Dias over a new contract after an incredible debut season.
Dias signed for Manchester City last summer and helped Pep Guardiola’s side to the Premier League title with the defender now set to be rewarded for his performances.
He was the first defender to win the FWA award since Liverpool’s Steve Nicol back in 1989, a recognition for his performances in the heart of a City defense which was a major factor in the club winning the Premier League.
According to The Sun, Man City are keen to improve the £90,000-a-week deal that the 24-year-old signed last year and are currently in talks with him over a pay rise.
The report claims that the Citizens want the proposed new agreement to run until June 2027, with the central defender seen as a key part of the club’s future.
Dias, who represented his country at this summer’s European Championship, could allegedly be in line to move close to the £250,000-a-week deal that John Stones signed earlier this month.
Dias featured 51 times for City in his maiden campaign and along with Stones was key to a defence which conceded just 32 times last term in the Premier League.
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
