Harry Kane looks set to miss Tottenham’s opening Premier League match against Manchester City after extending his stay in Florida despite the club’s wishes for his return.
Kane stopped in Florida on his way back from a family holiday in the Bahamas, despite being due to report for pre-season training on Monday.
Tottenham are said to be disappointed the striker did not return to the club earlier this week to report back for pre-season training following his break after Euro 2020 and are set to discipline the player.
As outlined by a report in The Telegraph, Kane has remained in Florida which will push back his possible return to first-team training due to having to quarantine upon his return to England, and is now unlikely to feature in the first game of the campaign.
That match happens to be against City, who remain keen to sign Kane on top of a £100million deal for Jack Grealish.
The 28-year-old is expected back at Spurs later this week, but having been in the Bahamas and USA, both on the UK’s amber list, Kane will be forced to enter a period of self-isolation.
He will be able to come out after five days with a negative test, but that means no pre-season training until Monday at the absolute earliest, if Kane returns from his travels tomorrow.
It guarantees the England captain will play no part in Tottenham’s Premier League opener on August 15, having trained for less than a week.
In reaction to the news shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have been sharing their thoughts and opinions.
