Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club offered more money to Lionel Messi last year than what the Argentine attacker will make currently with PSG.
Pep Guardiola’s City were the first club to be linked with Messi last year when the Argentine looked to be on his way out last year, but a move failed to materialise courtesy of Josep Maria Bartomeu.
In recent days, when it became public that Messi would be leaving Barcelona, City passed up a fleeting opportunity to sign the Argentinian, who has been officially announced as a PSG player after nearly two decades in spain.
Whether City decided not to enter the race this year because they didn’t have a chance, or they were pursuing other targets, the dream of signing Messi is finally over.
In the wake of his shocking exit, many City fans have pondered if their club made any sort of attempts to reunite Messi and Pep Guardiola in Manchester.
The premier league champions did tried a bunch of times over the years, but as we know, the attacker remained in La Liga with Barcelona.
Fabrizio Romano in an interview with City Xtra recently claimed Manchester City did approach Messi’s entourage in the hopes of signing the forward at the end of April, and Messi camp ‘liked the opportunity’ and but they wanted to remain at Barcelona.
According to the Athletic, Manchester City’s offer for Lionel Messi last summer is much more than what PSG offered this summer.
In reaction to the report, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

We were never going to get Messi https://t.co/Xa0f1d6YAt we need to brush it under the carpet and focus on a new season.

He either had no interest in ever joining City, and/or no bottle. Either way, he isn't, wasn't and won't be a City player. We must only have any interest in those who are, were, or want to be.

I mean it kinda makes sense, considering Messi had no choice but to leave Barca and accept someone's offer this summer, when compared to last summer when he had choice.
