After a strong start to the Premier League campaign, Manchester City hit the ground running in the UEFA Champions League with a 6-3 win over RB Leipzig.
Pep Guardiola’s side made the perfect start to their Group A campaign to take an early lead in a group that includes favourites Paris Saint-Germain.
The victory against the German club meant that City became the quickest English side to win 50 games in the Champions League, as per OptaJoe.
City achieved the feat after playing 91 matches. Spanish giants Real Madrid completed 50 wins in 88 matches, the record which stands till date having achieved it in 2003.
City 50 wins in 91 matches is quicker than Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United. Manchester City and RB Leipzig are placed in Group A, which also contains PSG and Club Brugge.
This latest achievement proves that City are on the right track when it comes to competing in the Champions League.
