Many Man City supporters have flocked to social media in order to react to a Twitter post from @City_Xtra which relayed a comment from Ederson joking he will relish the chance to replace Kevin De Bruyne in mildfield.
The Brazilian international is a major reason behind why so many opponents simply refuse to press City high up the field.
Ederson is capable of playing through pressure moments and his kicking is so advanced and powerful that he’s equally impressive when attempting long passes.
He can find a teammate in the final third of the pitch with a single long pass at times, which has been a valuable skill for Guardiola to harvest.
The Brazilian keeper has now revealed he would prefer Kevin de Bruyne’s role over playing striker.
When discussing James’ cameo against Middlesbrough, the 28-year-old told CityTV: ‘If I were to go outfield like this, I would not ask to be a striker.
‘I would prefer to play in the midfield. In Kevin’s place!
‘If I were to choose, if someone asked me to play, I would say: ‘Take off De Bruyne and play me!’ It would not change anything!’
In reaction to this Ederson’s quote shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, many City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.
