‘Sign him Txiki’, ‘would be a better investment’ – Fans reacts as Man City saw €70m bid rejected for Dusan Vlahovic this summer

Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club offered €70million for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic this summer.

The 21-year-old striker was linked with a move to the Etihad as Harry Kane alternative as City were in the market for a prolific striker across the course of the summer transfer window.

Italian outlet La Repubblica (via Sport Witness) reported in August that Man City had bid €55m for Vlahovic, but Fiorentina chairman Rocco Commisso wanted €100m.

However, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport as relay by Sport Witness in an article on Monday, Manchester City offered a considerable fee, which was more than the reported €55m bid  for the Serbian international.

The report claims City ‘put €70 million on the plate’ to sign Vlahovic, however the player was unwilling to leave after ‘giving his word’ to Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso that he would remain with La Viola.

The belief is that the 21-year-old will sign a new contract that will include a release clause of ‘at least €80m’ after ‘City and Atletico, with bonuses, had already put €70m on the plate’.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and City Chief, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
