Riyad Mahrez has denied to claims of saying Manchester City are least interested in watching matches of other teams in the Premier League.
Mahrez, 30, has spent the last three years at City after completing a £60million move from Leicester, winning two Premier League titles, three League Cups, one FA Cup and reaching the Champions League final with the club.
Mahrez had been linked with a potential Etihad exit this summer, but is determined to fight for his spot in Pep Guardiola’s trophy chasing squad.
While he is playing alongside some of the best players in Europe, there are cliams that the Algeria international is not impressed by some of their attitudes towards the game.
According to Canal Plus TV Show Clique via The Mirror, Riyad Mahrez claimed Manchester City players never bothered watching an opposition team at play.
“The lads at City don’t watch other teams’ matches on TV. They don’t give a shit about them,” The Algerian is quoted to have said.
“Plenty of times in the dressing-room I’ve heard certain others asking: ‘What happened in the game last night?’
“I don’t know what to say. It could be the Champions League semi-final.
“But if you are a footballer, you shouldn’t be coming in the next morning and asking what the result was in yesterday’s game.”
However, Mahrez have denied the reports on social media, claiming he never said it or anything close to it.
