Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have registered interest in the services of Napoli’s in-demand forward Victor Osimhen.
Formerly of VfL Wolfsburg, the 22-year-old striker joined Napoli last summer in an eye-catching €70 million move from LOSC Lille in 2020.
He initially had a difficult start to life in Italy, scoring just two goals during the first half of his debut campaign, leading many to question his quality and Napoli’s decision to spend big money.
But the striker soon proved himself, finishing the 2020/21 season on a strong note. And under new coach Luciano Spalletti, the forward is starting to live up to his potential, having already netted six goals in six matches so far.
Unsurprisingly, Osimhen’s exploits have a number of clubs to already start following him, with the premier leaque champions among the list of high-profile suitors.
Manchester City shortcomings in the number nine department is well-documented, notably missing out on the summer pursuit of Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport as relayed by Sport Witness, City are monitoring Victor Osimhen following their unsuccessful talks with Harry Kane over the summer.
The report claims that Guardiola’s side face stiff competition from Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid for the Nigerian’s signature, while Napoli are also keen to extend the 22-year-old’s contract until 2026.
The report adds that any move would require ‘no less than €120M(£103 million)’, with Osimhen pleasantly surprised by the interest shown in him over the past few weeks.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.

€120 million? Rather go for Haaland but a good backup if the Haaland deal falls through

Ok that’s way too much but he’s a baller

Rather pay that than pay more for Kane

A player that hasn’t made his mark in European football for €120M? Don’t joke with that one 🤣

Good player and we’ll probably be the only ones in for him but the problem is the Napoli board

We’re never gonna negotiate with Napoli. Also they bought him for €70m, so we’d have to spend an obscene fee for him

Great striker demostrated in Lille🇫🇷 and this year in Napoli🇮🇹 but €120m to sign him….too much. For me the value of this player is not more than €70m. I said long time ago, if City think to sign a striker the name is only Haaland🇳🇴,thats all. Much more money? Yes but the best
